I'm a lover of life, but a player of pawns.

I have an ordinary life, but it is deeply fulfilling. I just finished reading Moby Dick by Herman Melville. I just started reading Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I am in the middle of reading Language and Responsibility by Noam Chomsky and Nature Girl by Carl Hiaasen.

I probably spend more time thinking than doing, but I have an ambitious nature. I think I achieve a good balance, but it's a work in progress. I am thinking about planning to go to grad school for a PhD in linguistics (or maybe literature. Probably linguistics). I am interested in sociolinguistics and neurolinguistics.

I love spending my free time curled up near my fireplace with a book, my cat, and my dog. I also love running and yoga. I suck at running, like, really suck at it. My goal is to complete a marathon, but so far I have only been able to run about 1/26 of a marathon. And then I got runner's knee. But I am pretty good at yoga, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

I have 3 great friends in my town as well as a wonderful family and lifelong friends that live elsewhere. So don't try to kidnap me...you'll never get away with it!

I like creative projects like knitting, embroidery, and origami. I've been doing crayon drawings lately. Once in a while I might try writing a short story, poem, or the first chapter of a novel.

I love to travel and fantasize about traveling. I love going to the movies and getting movie theater popcorn sauce all over my jeans. I like seeing loud, exciting movies in the theater, but I like watching deeper, more complex movies at home. I love science fiction. I would watch almost any movie that features horses.

If you like deep conversations and offbeat humor, we would probably get along.
