What I'm doing with my life
I work as a wildland firefighter. I've worked for private crews and the Forest Service. I currently work as a senior firefighter and lead chainsaw operator on a type 4 engine in eastern Montana for the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
I'd like to work on several different types of fire crews (helitack, hotshots, fire use modules, etc) and decide which type I like best, then find a good crew and stick with them until my body falls apart in 20 years or so. After that, I plan to move to more of a fire management role.
I study Forest Management and Wildland Fire Science at the University of Montana.
